HOW TO MAKE PROTEIN SHAKES TASTE DELICIOUS!

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

Why do people drink protein shakes?

Protein is needed by your body to build and repair muscle cells which will strengthen and help your muscles grow. Protein is not only for bodybuilders it's for everyone, the more muscle you have the more calories you'll burn.

When is the best time to drink a protein shake?

The window of opportunity is often said to be straight after a workout, the strength training term "metabolic window" is used to describe the period that the intake of protein and carbohydrates can maximise gains and aid in muscle building. Some theorists believe this window lasts only a few minutes. You can also drink a protein shake during your workout.

Why does protein taste so bad?

I've tried a lot of different protein shakes and protein bars and the majority taste and smell bad. Last year I was invited to the audition for the next "SAS who Dares Wins" TV show. I needed to increase my weight from 50Kg to 52Kg in just a few weeks for the audition. This meant drinking protein shakes three times a day and it was making me feel very sick. Protein is full of artificial sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose, saccharin, this is so they can show they are low in sugar but this also makes them taste sickly and the increase in consumption was causing me terrible pain in my stomach.

What if I don't like the taste of protein?

Protein comes in a plethora of flavours from chocolate to strawberry cheesecake. My recipe below requires a neutral flavour such as vanilla for when you mix it with strong flavoured fruit like blueberries, mango etc.

How can I make my protein shakes taste better?

Try my Becks A.C.E. Fitness recipe below, if you have a blender or a nutribullet it's quick to make and tastes great. I haven't had any problems with stomach pains from it. Its refreshing and thirst quenching too. I call this one RIPE & RIPPED, the main flavours are strawberry (a fruit full of vitamin C, rich in antioxidants, & excellent for heart health) and banana (which is high in fibre, good for your blood pressure and one for easing digestion, this might be why the stomach pains have gone). Tried it and still not converted yet? Keep an eye on my blog to find one you do like. Let me know your feedback and please feel free to leave thought and opinions.
