BECKS VAN SOMEREN

DIRECTOR & INSTRUCTOR

Becks van Someren; the Founder and Director of The Outdoor PT, is a qualified Level 2 Fitness Instructor & Level 3 Personal Trainer (Active iQ). In addition, Becks is qualified as a Self Defence Instructor (British Academy of Krav Maga), Women’s Fitness Specialist (NASM), Ballet Barre instructor (Barre Strength) and holds a certificate in Providing Trauma-Informed Care.

Using these skills Becks has moved away from conventional gym-based training to become a dedicated advocate for the health benefits of the renewing powers of the outdoors. Her mission is to convert as many women as possible to the “green exercise experience” and reframe their relationship with exercise, their body and to give them the confidence to own their space in the world.

In a city addicted to speed sometimes we just need an escape.  As the name implies: The Outdoor PT specialises in outdoor exercise, in turn leading the way to a more environmentally conscious way of training.  Fresh air, natural light and the feel of the wind on your skin are invigorating, transporting you back through the millennia and triggering your evolutionary senses. Our experience over the past 5 years has honed the 45-minute one-to-one sessions so that women feel the benefit of decluttering their busy schedule and the gained headspace while additionally meeting their fitness goals. This is simply the healthiest combination of exercise for the body, mind, and soul.

A MISSION TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT

As is still the case in a lot of industries, personal training is dominated by males; currently more than 70% of the trainers in the UK.  If you’re a woman looking to get the best from your training, wouldn’t you want to train with someone who understands the female body intimately? Be empowered and benefit from a range of training techniques taken from ballet, self-defence, bodybuilding and military inspired exercises, focussed on women from a female led company.
